GENEALOGIES CATALOGED BY THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS SINCE 1986 For more than 80 years, the Library of Congress (LC) has been one of the world's most comprehensive collectors of genealogy materials. Since 1986, there has been no publication of new genealogy records from the Library of Congress. Now, "Genealogies Cataloged by the Library of Congress Since 1986" is available. The usefulness of this new publication is enhanced by two unique reference listings, which make it the most definitive publication of its kind today. Remarkably informative, this publication picks up where the now out-of-print Kaminkow/Magna Carta series left off and is current through July 31, 1991. By using the new "Genealogies" in conjunction with the Kaminkow/Magna Carta series, you will have access to LC's entire listing of genealogies. Organized for instant use, this reference tool is divided into three convenient sections. While you have access to thousands more entries, you can retrieve essential information faster and easier then ever before. Section I--11,769 Entries: More than 700 pages of detailed listings by family surname, alphabetically arranged. This list gives you complete and accurate access to the genealogies received and cataloged since 1986. Each entry includes: the author's name; the complete title of the work; the publisher's name; a physical description of the work; and more. Section II--10,170 Established Family Names and 22,614 Cross References: Nearly 400 pages of established family surnames and cross references. This unique list of established forms of surnames and cross references to variant spellings has never been available before. Established surnames are listed alphabetically. The list includes: the authorized family name as used for subject access in catalogs in libraries throughout the U.S. and abroad, plus variant spellings and related names. Section III--3,564 Titles on Microfilm: Nearly 230 pages listing genealogy publications converted to microfilm. This list of family histories converted to microfilm is available for the first time. Since the original volumes are now brittle, they are available in very few libraries today. All entries are listed by LC call number from the "CS" class and include a description of the work. Now you can quickly locate a specific genealogy and purchase a microfilm or a paper copy of the document. The price of "Genealogies" is $70 (North America) or $75 (International). You may pay by MasterCard or VISA or set up a deposit account with Cataloging Distribution Service (CDS). The government requires prepayment. Alternatively, you may send payment with your order, using a check drawn on a U.S. bank, a money order, or USESCO coupons. There are no shipping and handling charges for surface mail. Please inquire about special handling (air mail, overnight delivery, etc.) Sorry, CDS cannot accept purchase orders as payment.
