The prior edition (1981) had 68 million entries, the 1988 version contains over 121 million entries. Of even more interest to most genealogists is the Family History Department's new policy of selling pieces of the IGI directly to the public at reasonable prices. The prices below are for the MICROFICHE format. If you would like to have your own personal copy, send off for it. These are the same microfiche that may be viewed at LDS, SLC, its branch libraries, or some other libraries. These are the price lists received for the "new" IGI ... personal copies may be ordered by writing: Mrs. Joyce Neilson Financial Services Family History Dept 50 East North Temple Salt Lake City, UT 84150 Costs of the microfiche work out to about 25 cents per fiche; orders are by state or county or by entire country. It is NOT possible to buy just one fiche (for your surname) from within a county; you'd have to buy the entire county. Still, it's quite reasonable, and quite practical for those of us who work from our homes. State sales tax is necessary for some states. You should first write and ask for the order form. The Family History Department finds it much easier to accept orders only on their own form.
